This notice explains how PRSN handles personal information when you visit this website or join the early-access waitlist.

Who we are

PRSN — Prison Reports + Sentencing News is an independent UK prison and justice media platform. For privacy enquiries or requests about your information, email info@prsn.org.uk.

Information we collect

If you join the waitlist, we collect the email address you submit, the date of submission, the source of the sign-up and the version of the consent wording shown. We also store a one-way hash derived from your IP address to prevent automated or excessive submissions. The record expires after 24 hours, and an hourly cleanup job removes expired records. We do not store the raw IP address in the waitlist rate-limit record.

Vercel Web Analytics records anonymous, aggregated page-view information such as the page visited, referrer, approximate location, browser, operating system and device type. It does not use third-party cookies. Its temporary visitor hash resets daily and is not associated with your waitlist email.

Why we use your information

We use your email address to confirm your registration and send the launch updates and early-access invitations you requested. Our lawful basis is your consent. We use short-lived hashed rate-limit data and basic technical logs for our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and reliable.

Services that process data

  • Supabase stores the private waitlist database and rate-limit records.
  • Vercel hosts the website and provides privacy-focused Web Analytics and technical logs.
  • Resend processes your email address and message content to deliver confirmation and launch emails.
  • YouTube provides the muted background video shown in the waitlist card using its privacy-enhanced embed.

These providers may process information outside the United Kingdom under their contractual safeguards. We do not sell your personal information or share it for third-party advertising.

Cookies and essential storage

The current website does not use non-essential advertising or analytics cookies. Essential technical storage and short-lived security information may be used where needed to deliver the site, protect the waitlist and maintain reliable operation. If this changes, this notice will be updated before any new non-essential use begins.

Retention and your rights

We keep your waitlist record until PRSN launches, you ask to leave, or it is no longer needed for the purpose described above. Rate-limit records expire after 24 hours and are removed by the next hourly cleanup job. Email delivery records are retained by Resend in line with its service terms and our account settings.

Under UK data protection law, you may ask to access, correct or erase your personal information, restrict or object to processing, or withdraw consent. You can leave the waitlist or request deletion at any time by emailing info@prsn.org.uk. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office if you are unhappy with how a concern is handled.

Changes to this notice

We may update this policy as PRSN develops. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
